Nigerian farming must modernise and replace its ageing workforce if the country is going to be able to feed its rising population.

A transformation from small-scale subsistence farms to mechanised, more commercially viable farms is essential. With a uniquely diverse climate and a large expanse of uncultivated arable land, Nigeria has the natural resources to drive a boom in agriculture that can lift millions out of poverty, but we have not yet created the right economic conditions. Statistical analysis and reports have shown how we can do that – and underlines why we must!

We believe agriculture can power Nigeria's economic transformation. If we increase productivity on farms, we immediately increase the incomes and livelihoods of about 60-70% of people. Also we can use agriculture to develop an industry that will improve food security in urban areas and use it to make us competitive in terms of manufacturing.
